President’s Letter

Dear Friends, Donors, and Supporters,

It’s an exciting time at Feed the Hungry San Miguel as we continue to provide nourishment for nearly 5,000 children each day across more than 40 communities, thanks to your invaluable support. We’re thrilled to share recent events, exciting new partnerships, and updates on our operational enhancements that position us for even greater impact.

Celebrating Success: Walk-Run-Bike for Food Challenge
Our 5th Annual Walk-Run-Bike for Food Challenge event was a tremendous success, with over 500 participants of all ages who walked, biked, ran, and donated to raise awareness and crucial funds for our feeding programs. This event highlighted the strength and generosity of our community, bringing us ever closer to achieving our mission. Our incredible team of Paola Juarez and Gabriela Gonzalez worked day and night to make this event a fun and inspiring experience for all involved, and I am incredibly grateful to them.

Expanding Horizons: New Partnership with Biblioteca San Miguel
We are excited to announce our latest collaboration with Biblioteca San Miguel, led by the dedicated Blue Blueitt and Debra Brossard. Through this initiative, we’ll bring books to the communities we serve, providing children with access to educational resources and inspiring stories. This partnership allows us to nourish both minds and bodies, fostering a love for reading and a world of possibilities for these young minds. This continues our goal of collaborating with the other charitable groups here in San Miguel.

Strengthening Our Operations and Financial Transparency
Our dedication to fiduciary responsibility drives every decision we make, and we’ve implemented significant changes to ensure accountability and efficiency:

  • Staffing Enhancements: We are pleased to welcome our new Head of Finance, Veronica Olvera, whose expertise has already led to a 25% reduction in costs, maximizing the resources available for our mission.
  • Improved Transparency and Systems: We’ve introduced a new accounting and inventory system for enhanced transparency and better resource tracking, allowing us to allocate every dollar even more wisely.
  • Centralized Donor Management: We’ve streamlined our donor communications, newsletters, and event management into a single, more cost-effective system, ensuring a stronger connection with our supporters.
  • Updated Policies and Procedures: We have established new operational and financial policies to uphold the highest standards of accountability and resource management.

Renewed Focus on Fundraising
Our board has been actively involved in these improvements, providing strategic and tactical support every step of the way. Now, with these essential foundations in place, we’re ready to focus fully on fundraising. With your continued support, we’re eager to expand our reach and make an even greater impact on the lives of children and families in need.

We will have more info soon on other changes coming in 2025 to continue to prepare us for the next 40 years of serving the children and families of San Miguel de Allende.

As the year 2024 comes to a close, we hope you will continue your amazing support for our mission. Thank you for being a crucial part of the Feed the Hungry San Miguel family! Together, we’re building a stronger, healthier, and more educated community. We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events and sharing more exciting developments in the months to come.

Wishing you a very happy and fulfilling end-of-year,

Mike Taylor
