A Community We Support: Peña Blanca

Feed the Hungry San Miguel’s newest school kitchen opened in this rural community, where 34 percent of the elementary school students were diagnosed with some level of malnutrition. The children receive breakfast as well as lunch in the new kitchen—a total of 530 meals are served every day.

Volunteer Spotlight: Driver Daniel Moore

Meet the volunteer driver who, over the years, has delivered enough food for one million meals! “We can buy the food, volunteers can pack the food, but without drivers like Dan, that food would never make it to the plates of the school children, who eagerly await deliveries,” says Chip Swab, Driver Coordinator.

Agua limpia: una expansión lógica de la misión

Many school children have a difficult time staying alert in class because they are hungry, but also due to dehydration. Our Student Hydration Program provides clean water for children in the classrooms and for food preparation in the school kitchens. Each month, purified water in large refillable jugs is delivered for nearly 2,500 children in 19 communities.
